A German Touch
Hi everyone!
Since the beginning of September Byhaugenkaféen has got a new associate: Me.
My name is Frida von Zahn, 18 years old, from Germany and doing an European Voluntary Service in Stavanger. I will live here for one year and working at the organisation "Ungdom og Fritid" both at Tasta Bydelshus, an open Youth Club, and at Byhaugenkaféen as a volunteer.
In summer 2015 I finished highschool and decided that I would like to do a Gap Year before studying, so I applied for an EVS (not mentioning that I don't know what to study yet anyway).
Why Norway? Well, obviously the weather is not the reason. But I was told, that Norway is a beautiful country with stunning landscapes, nice cities and good metal bands. And I am not disappointed. In my hometown I worked as a young leader within the local parish and a freelance actress at a theatre during my free time. I furthermore love dancing, singing, playing the piano and going to rock festivals. And yes, I didn't get much sleep during the last years.
And although I am still shocked of the prices for alcohol, I already love Norway and Stavanger in particular. I hope, I will have a great time here and learn some more Norwegian apart from "Hei" and "Ha det bra".
See you
